President

I am an entrepreneur at heart, inspired by the business owners in my township. My career began in 1986 as a Plant Operator at SA Cyanamid, with a promise to resign after five years to start my own venture. I learned early that solving problems and building strong supplier relationships fuel sustainable success.

From Plant Operator to Supervisor, I earned recognition and, in 1989, was awarded a management training stint at Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. I left SA Cyanamid in 1992 to chase my dream: buying a Kombi, growing a taxi fleet of seven, and running a 21-seater bus. I then explored retail in Lynnville and later redirected my focus after learning from a high-theft experience.

My career expanded into leadership and community development. In the 1990s, I served as Secretary for SANCO, championing civic engagement. From 2000–2003, I led the Tasbet Park Project, overseeing 1,205 of 5,000 low-income rental units, and served as the first General Manager of Emalahleni Housing Company. I then spearheaded the Mthimkhulu Centre and Housing for the Aged (2003–2005), sleeping facilities and daily meals for residents. In 2021, I was part of the Izodela Arts Centre transformation from a disused Beer Hall and currently looking to revamp the Boxing Club as a legacy project with George Xaba.

In 2009, Cathoros Engineering And Projects emerged, delivering major engineering work for mining, steel, and Eskom. We later expanded into mining operations and coal brokering – supplying coal to Eskom for 5 years, with ventures including Mambo Coal (with my wife) and ALT Solution (for gold with my daughter). I also help mine employees through Khabonina Rental Property.

I’ve led and redefined business chambers, serving as Branch Secretary (NAFCOC, 2012–2017) and, in 2023, I was a co-founder of the Nkangala Business Chamber, a values-driven, faith-based platform that has rapidly gained regional traction.
